Our Philosophy

At Chat French, we believe the best way to learn French is the same way humans learn any language — by listening and speaking in meaningful, real-life contexts.

Think about how babies learn a language. They don’t start with grammar rules or memorization. They listen, they observe, and they slowly begin to speak as understanding grows. This natural process is known as comprehensible input, a concept popularized by Stephen Krashen. Learners progress best when they hear language that is just slightly above their current level — understandable, relevant, and used in real conversation.

That’s why at Chat French, we don’t focus on grammar drills or rote exercises. Instead, we create a supportive, immersive environment where learners listen first, speak often, and build confidence naturally. Our small-group conversation sessions feel more like a guided discussion than a traditional class, allowing you to practice French the way it’s actually used.

Language isn’t something you memorize — it’s something you live. At Chat French, we help you live it.

Who is Chat French for?

Chat French is for intermediate French learners who understand the language, but struggle to speak it confidently. You’ve learned the basics — now you remember the words, but hesitate to use them.

Whether you’re preparing for travel, improving your French for work, or simply want to keep your skills sharp, Chat French helps you move from thinking in English to speaking naturally in French.

Our small-group, guided conversation sessions are designed to feel supportive and low-pressure, so you can practice speaking regularly without fear of making mistakes. No grammar drills. No awkward silence. Just real conversation that builds confidence over time.

If you can understand French but freeze when it’s time to speak, Chat French is your next step.
